摘要	臺灣地處熱帶及亞熱帶地區，因此不論動、植物的物種皆十分繁多，所以臺灣是個非常適合進行動、植物探索教育的地點，然而目前市面上並無一套統整臺灣生物的圖資系統。除此之外，國內專業的線上動、植物資料庫都是封閉的，只有特定的專家學者才能對資料庫進行編輯，造成資料建立與更新的速度十分緩慢；而且常以抽象的文字描述作為外觀特稱的搜尋條件，對於有意從事動、植物探索的初學者而言，在資料的收集和統整上十分不便。
